School Apparel Printing

School apparel needs to cope with weekly wear, washing and South African weather, from dusty sports fields to damp winter mornings. We print house shirts, leavers wear, club shirts and sports apparel for schools in Bloemfontein, Hamilton and beyond, with couriered orders across the Free State and nationwide.

School Shirts That Hold Up To Weekly Wear

Our school apparel printing is set up for the kind of use school clothing actually gets, not just for a single photo day. We print on cotton, polycotton and performance garments for house shirts, sports days, choir tops, leavers wear, clubs and prefect wear. Sizes can run from small learner sizes through to adult staff sizes, with print placement on the chest, back, sleeve or hem depending on the design.

For schools in Bloemfontein, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Welkom, Bethlehem, Kroonstad and Parys, we help keep colour and branding consistent across classes, grades and year groups. If the order includes multiple houses or houses plus staff, we can separate the garments by group and bag them individually so distribution is easier on your side.

  • House shirts for inter-house events and athletics days
  • Leavers wear for Grade 7 and matric groups
  • Club shirts for music, debating and culture groups
  • Sportswear for netball, rugby, hockey and athletics
  • Staff shirts for tours, camps and fundraising events

What Is Included In A School Order

Each school order is handled with the same practical process, whether you need 20 shirts for a small club or 500 units for a full grade. We assist with artwork setup, colour matching, size sorting and final packing. If a school has an existing crest, motto or house logo, we work from the supplied artwork and prepare it for printing at the correct size and position. If the files are rough or incomplete, we tidy them up before production, because a clean file prints cleaner and saves time.

We also help with garment selection where needed. For hot summer events, lighter shirts in breathable fabric are usually better. For winter leavers wear, a heavier garment or long sleeve option often makes more sense. In coastal humidity, ink choice and curing matter more than people think, and in dry Free State conditions we still keep a close eye on drying and press settings so the print stays consistent.

  • Artwork setup and file preparation
  • Colour matching for school colours and house colours
  • Print placement approval before production
  • Size sorting for every learner or group
  • Individual bagging for easy handout at school

How The Printing Process Works

We keep the process straightforward. First, the school or committee sends through the enquiry form with the quantity, garment type, sizes and the design brief. Next, we confirm the print method, placement and any special requirements such as names, year groups or different house colours. Once the artwork is approved, production is scheduled and the garments are printed, cured and checked before packing. Sibusiso Ndlovu oversees production and Willem Jacobs handles the quality check on finish and alignment.

For many school jobs, screen printing is the most cost-effective option when you are printing the same design in bulk. It gives strong colour coverage and a neat, consistent finish across all garments. For smaller runs or names that change often, we may recommend a different setup depending on the design and quantity. Either way, the aim is the same, a tidy result that looks right on the day and still looks decent after repeated washing.

  • Step 1: Submit the enquiry form with sizes and quantities
  • Step 2: Confirm artwork, positions and colour choices
  • Step 3: Approve the setup before printing starts
  • Step 4: Print, cure, inspect and pack
  • Step 5: Courier collection or delivery arranged for your area

Turnaround Times For School Clothing Orders

Turnaround depends on quantity, garment stock and how quickly artwork is approved. Smaller school orders can often move faster than large class or grade orders, while big multi-size batches need more time for sorting and packing. We recommend allowing extra lead time before sports day, tour season, end-of-term events and leavers functions, because schools often send through amended lists after the first draft and that adds a day or two.

In busy months, we advise schools to place orders early especially if there are several different print colours or multiple garments per learner. Bloemfontein weather can swing from cold mornings to hot afternoons, and that means schools tend to need both summer and winter options in one season. If you need couriered delivery to another town or province, we will factor in transit time so your order arrives with enough breathing room for distribution.

Pricing That Works For School Budgets

Our pricing is based on quantity, garment type, print size, number of colours and whether names or multiple print positions are included. School orders usually work best when combined into a single batch, since larger quantities reduce the unit cost. A two-colour chest print on 100 shirts will price differently from individual names across 30 leavers hoodies, so we quote according to the actual job rather than giving a one-size-fits-all figure.

For schools that need to stay within a term budget, we can suggest practical options such as a single print position, one main garment type across the whole group, or grouping orders by house instead of by class. That usually keeps costs in check without making the result look cheap. Kagiso Molefe and Lerato van Wyk can help steer the order into the best range for your numbers and deadline.

  • Best value for bulk quantities with the same design
  • Clear pricing for extra colours, names and locations
  • Options for smaller runs when a full bulk order is not needed
  • Courier costs quoted separately where applicable

Caring For Printed School Apparel

Printed school apparel lasts longer when it is washed and handled properly. Turn garments inside out before washing, use cold or lukewarm water and avoid harsh bleach on the print area. Do not iron directly over the print, and keep tumble drying to a minimum where possible. In dusty inland areas like Bloemfontein and the Free State towns around it, regular washing matters, but over-washing with very hot water can shorten the life of both fabric and print.

For sportswear that gets used often, we suggest checking seams, cuffs and print areas every few weeks during the season. If a school reorders yearly, it is also worth keeping the same garment spec and print size so new batches match older stock. That helps with house shirts and leavers wear, especially when siblings or teams need a consistent look from one year to the next.
